A project orientation session on “Empowering Vulnerable Communities for Enhanced Cyclone Readiness (EVCR)” was held on 22 August 2026 at the PRAAN Secretariat in Noakhali.
The orientation brought together project team members to develop a shared understanding of the project’s objectives, implementation approach, roles and responsibilities, and coordination mechanisms. The session also provided an important opportunity to strengthen the team’s knowledge and preparedness for working with vulnerable communities living in cyclone-prone areas.
The EVCR project aims to contribute to stronger and more resilient communities by enhancing local disaster preparedness, strengthening community-level capacity, and promoting effective mechanisms for anticipating and responding to cyclone-related risks.
During the orientation, participants discussed key areas of project implementation, including community engagement, preparedness planning, coordination, and approaches for supporting people who are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of cyclones and other climate-related hazards.
By strengthening collaboration among project staff and ensuring a common understanding of planned activities, the orientation marks an important step toward effective implementation of the EVCR initiative.
The project is implemented by Nazrul Smriti Sangstha (NSS) and PRAAN – Participatory Research & Action Network, with support from Start Fund Bangladesh.
Through this initiative, the implementing partners will work closely with communities and relevant stakeholders to strengthen preparedness, improve response capacity, and help reduce the impacts of cyclones on vulnerable populations.
Together, we are building stronger, safer, and more resilient communities.
