People’s Manifesto on Right to Food and Nutrition | 13th National Parliamentarian Election

On the eve of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, on 27 January 2026, The Business Standard and Daily Bonik Barta published a special supplement titled People’s Manifesto on Right to Food and Nutrition. Jointly led by PRAAN – Participatory Research & Action Network  and Bangladesh Food Security Network – KHANI  the supplements reflect the lived reality of Bangladesh—farmers, fishers, workers, women, small vendors, and children continue to face hunger, malnutrition, high food prices, and growing climate stress.

Food is not charity. Nutrition is not optional. These are basic rights and clear state responsibilities.

This election is a moment of choice. Food and nutrition security must be central to party manifestos and political commitments. Ask your candidates where they stand on the right to food and nutrition. Demand clear positions and concrete plans.

We expect all contesting political parties to seriously consider these proposals as well as their future actions for the betterment of the people and the country. We also expect the next government to take responsibility and act to implement them.

Democratic choice must protect dignity, survival, and justice for all citizens.
