Job Context : To coordinate and deliver resources and processes in support of the media and communication component of the organization. The post holder will also lead, develop and deliver digital strategies and campaigns on Renewable Energy, Right to Food, Climate Change Justice, womenโ€™s rights and advocacy. The post holder is required to support partners to strengthen their capacity for effective advocacy work, train them on advocacy especially media and campaigning tools, brief government officials, private sector actors, journalists, campaigners and others on the campaign issues above. S/he reports directly to the Chief Executive.

  • Produce relevant material for campaigning and policy purposes e.g. public leaflets, media articles, future for national and local media, Primer, One pager, written and AV in a communicative way which is understandable for all types of audiences.
  • Prepare news, blog, press release, event reports or any other promotional content for the website and social media;
  • Support visibility of the project activities by writing entries in Facebook, Twitter, and other media platforms;
  • Support programme partners in media and communications related capacity building and ensuring that this is integrated within programmes.
  • Support PRAANโ€™s staff and partners in getting relevant messages across to target audiences within and outside the organization on major activities.
  • Maintain contact with key officials, ministries and parliamentarians for information and feed these into PRAANโ€™s national media and advocacy work
  • Frequently update our PRAANโ€™s social media outlets (Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, etc.) and ensure we disseminate information about our program on a weekly basis
  • Design e-newsletters, reports, banners, leaflets, posters or any other materials;
  • Assist in collating material and drafting opinion pieces for newspapers and policy briefs;
  • Develop and sustain relationship with the media and the civil society groups in to feed into PRAANโ€™s advocacy work.
  • Ensure adequate media coverage for all programme activities, functions and press releases/press statements.
  • Liase with active allies to identify and help them to use rare opportunities to drive PRAAN’s corporate advocacy issues in various media outlets in Bangladesh
  • Understanding of and commitment to adhere to equity, diversity, gender, child safety and staff health and wellbeing principles.

  • Completed university degree (post-graduate) from an accredited academic institution preferably in Communication and Media Studies, Journalism, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Anthropology, Sociology or other related fields;
  • More than 2-3 years of experience in a similar position will be preferable;
  • Minimum of 2 (two) years demonstrable skills and experience in direct and indirect lobbying/ advocacy and campaigning work in this field highly desirable;
  • Excellent command over written and oral Bangla and English;
  • Excellent IT skills; Relevant experience in graphics design, Video Editing, Designing, report writing, and documentation will be given priority;
  • Working proficiency in photography and videography;
  • Demonstrable skills and experience in effective media relations;
  • A demonstrable understanding of NGO media/advocacy work in the context of development.
