On 10 March 2026, a daylong Action Planning Workshop titled “Pathways to Sustainable WLCC Management through Rural Mother Center” was held at the District Social Services Office, Noakhali.
The workshop focused on exploring ways to strengthen Rural Mother Centres (RMCs) with a more structured and institutional role, while also ensuring that community women can better access services through the Women-Led Community Centre – WLCC. Participants discussed how RMCs can act as a community platform to connect women—especially climate-displaced women living in the Dhansiri Ashrayan Government Shelter Project in Chanandi Union, Hatiya—with essential services, support systems, and empowerment opportunities provided through WLCCs.
The meeting also discussed the role of the Department of Social Services (DSS) in supporting and activating RMCs, and identified potential pathways for establishing a Rural Mother Centre in Chanandi Union, Hatiya, ensuring stronger community ownership and sustainability of WLCC initiatives.
The session was chaired by Z. M. Mizanur Rahman Khan, Deputy Director, District Social Services Office, Noakhali.
Samsad Khan, GBV in Emergency Officer at UNFPA, and Dr. Sadia Samrin Hridi, Field Monitoring Officer, joined the meeting on behalf of UNFPA. And participation of team PRAAN as led by PRAAN Chief Executive Mr. Nurul Alam Masud.
